Mambo Culture and Artists

             In this essay, I am going to talk about some of the main artists that work at Mambo, I am also going to tell you about the style that they use for their illustrations.
             Mambo is an Australian surf and streetwear company, which comes under the communication, and product area of design. It was founded in 1984 by Dare Jennings, whose dream of an international design and fashion empire was born out of the simple belief that almost any idiot could make a few dollars by sticking a picture on the back of a T-shirt and selling it.
             Reg Mombassa is one of the more famous artists in the company as he was also in an Australian rock band called "Mental as Anything." Reg is also a painter, writer, and poet, and he uses each of these skills in his clothing designs. Some other main very skilled, talented, and bizarre artists that do artwork for the company are David McKay, Matthew Martin, Paul Worstead, Maria, Kozic, Jim Mitchell, Gerry Webb, Steve Bliss, Mark Falls, Robert Moore, Jeff Raglus, Marcelle Luman, and Bruce Goold. All but 3 of these artists were born in Australia which reflects in their work.
             Gerry Webb is the only one of these artists who is from Adelaide. Gerry is also a Ceramic and a jewelry maker. A recipient of various ceramic design awards, including the 1999 Sydney Myer Fund International Ceramics Award. he also used to be a surfer and won the state competitions 5 times.
             David McKay is from Sydney and he is a director of short films, music videos, and television commercials. He is also a painter and art director.
             Mathew Martin is from Sydney. Mathew is a former Insurance broker's clerk, surfboard shaper, and employed by the Australian Army to dig holes. He is currently living in New York, contributing cartoons and illustrations to magazines such as American HQ, the New York Times, Playboy, and the Sydney Morning Herald.
