A single operation changed the outcome of the world's greatest war. Operation "Overlord" was designed to be the largest amphibious invasion in history. The Allies decided to actually get sand samples from the questionable beaches. They made sure to stay below the high water mark so their tracks would be wiped out by high tide before morning. The stars and moon were watched and predicted in order to get the most accurate time in order to launch the offensive.
