Discourse of a Mag article

            
             What does the word discourse mean? Webster's Dictionary describes it as a formal discussion of a subject in speech or in writing. Taking this in mind, I choose and analyzed the discourse of an article found in PC World called "Speed Secrets," written by Jeff Bertolucci, The Article gives the reader an understanding of the differences between the different types of microprocessors and the other internal components of computers that gives them, their speed.
             After reading the article, I sat there and tried to imagine who exactly would be reading this article and for what reason they where reading it. To get an understanding of who the article was intended for, I think that it is best to look at the information that was presented. In my opinion the main bases of this article was to inform a personal computer shopper of exactly what they were investing in. Today, in the technological age there are more different types of computer users then there are crayons in a box. There are people who have no need for speed, to do their day-to-day world processing and Internet surfing. Then there are the real computer users, the junkies, the people who need their speed for ultra fast 3D gaming, photo editing or just to say that they are the top dog with the quickest PC on the block .
             To meet with the requirements of the different connoisseurs of computing technology, Bertolucci includes the two major companies producing chips and their five different lines. The two companies involved in the article are Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), who produces the Athlon and the Duron chips and Intel, who make the Celeron, Pentium III and Pentium 4.
             However, if you would go ask the normal street computer buyer they would probably have no clue of the differences between the individual chips.
