             Job Analysis of an Ames Co. Sales Representative
             Our methods of job analysis included the following: an interview with a representative of the job (an incumbent), the Occupational Information Network (O*NET), and other literature sources. We decided to research these three sources because they included three differing types of information that would give us a broad database to complete the job analysis. The interview was conducted by Matthew Hurd. He interviewed his mother who has been working at Ames department store for some time. Specifically questions were asked about what is done on the job specifically, how these tasks are completed, how much time it takes to perform each task, how often the task is performed, what physical activities are necessary for the job, what the environmental conditions are like, typical work incidents (interpretation of feelings, influence of other people and their feelings, repetitive work, self directed work, hazardous conditions etc.), what records and reports are prepared for the job!
             and supervising responsibilities. The interview was conducted face to face in a moderate amount of time on a relatively relaxed basis.
             The group worked separately from one another for a period of about two weeks obtaining and researching information from the references on the last page of this report. Then everyone came together one night in Pattee library to collaborate and decide what information needed to be included from the interview, O*NET and other resources (literature) to compile the task statement. The books were researched in the library (found on the CAT system) or at home and specific information was extracted that deemed applicable to the retail field.
