Bill Blass left his hometown in Indiana at the age of 17 and made his way to New York. Currently at the age of 77, after three years of service in World War II, numerous career achievements, various awards, a high regard of social responsibility, and an outstanding "name", Bill Blass has left the industry with a recent retirement.Bill Blass was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana on June 22, 1922. He began his career at the age of 17 when he left Indiana and worked in New York as a sketcher and later as a designer. The next few decades in his life consisted of serving in World War II, designing for Anna Miller, and Maurice Rentner. It was the retirement of Maurice Renter that launched Bill Blass's career in the industry. Taking over as owner of company and renaming it Bill Blass, LTD was the starting point for his current position as "one of the most widely acclaimed American fashion designers today".
