Skull and Jaw
The skull provides the brain protection from injury. The skull is composed of 21 different
bones connected together. The jaw is connected to the skull with a temporomandilar joint. The
jaw moves open and closed to help us chew our food and to communicate. A common disorder
of the jaw is called, TMJ, or Temporomandibular Joint disorder, which causes dull aching pain
and clicking noises or your jaw can be locked open or closed.
Breastbone, Ribs, Vertebrae
The breastbone and the ribs protect most of the vital organs. The breastbone and the ribs
are made up of 24 bones which all come together at the sternum. The vertebrae holds your
middle body up and gives your back support to stand up. It enables you to bend and flex but still

femur is the largest bone in the human body. The femur and pelvis come together in a ball and
socket joint. This joint allows us to move our legs and walk. Inside this joint there should be
healthy cartilage, which absorbs shock and reduces friction from movement. Injures in the hip and
pelvic area are usually fractures, other trauma or due to arthritis. One type of arthritis in this joint
is called Osteoarthritis, which is the loss of cartilage in the joint and causes bone to rub on bone,
