So Many Styles, So Many Parents
What parenting style do you think is the best? Which has the most positive effects on child development? Authoritative is proven to be the best style of parenting because it has the most positive effects on child development. Parents are all very different; no two parents are alike. They come from all different backgrounds and have very different traditions. People tend to get part of their parenting tactics from their own parents and from society (Edwards para. 1). Permissive parents give in to their children quite frequently to avoid a conflict. As the children get older, they learn to hide their problems from their parents (Edwards para. They believe that getting a child to understand and obey is worth it no matter if the results are good or not. They attempt to try to reason with their children instead of using fear as a weapon (Wong 94-95). In my opinion and many researchers', this is the best style because of the many positive things that come from it. The children are not allowed to ask questions or to have their own opinions (Edwards para. Children who grow up in this type of environment with a lot of demands and control tend not to do well in school (Bee 203-206).
