Symbols in Today's Society

There are many different symbols in the society that we live in. Langston Hughes uses some of these symbols in his stories and poems to express his views of the world. In Langston Hughes' "Feet Live Their Own Life", the reader gets a glimpse of how important feet truly are in respect to their owner. These little things are what Langston constantly brings to light. He too was trying to depict the world for the cruel place it is. This is why there is a need for change to come about. In Hughes' poem "Children's Rhymes" he says,"What don't bugthem white kidssure bugs me. The world that Hughes lived in is different from the one we live in today; however, there is still the need for change. The day when everyone is treated equally regardless of the color of their skin is when the "dream" will really happen. As babies, most people have heard the creation story. This is why Langston had Simple's character make this comment.
