If we think about it, it is easy to see the similarities between the two processes. The main comparison being the frustration one feels while trying to figure how these processes will work for them. Other similarities include thinking about how the process can be worked out, and then about finally figuring out how it works then making sure one can do it again. Finally, mastering the process (or at least knowing the steps, where you can repeat them). Before learning to ride a bike one has to know the components of the bike. They have to know about the pedals and what they do, about the wheels, and how the brakes work. It is just like learning about grammar before one starts to write. One has to learn about sentence structure, about punctuation and about how some words balance sentence or holds sentences together. The writing process is often a difficult process because it requires thinking. It requires steps that are essential to follow in order to achieve the desired goal. on the bike, there are many fears one has to overcome before they can learn. To get out of this, one has to think real hard to get back on track. Once a parent or someone teaching the person to ride has assured the pupil that they will be fine, then the pupil is ready to ride. Just like one has to write often and write different things to be good at it. This particular comparison is important because one has to ride a lot and ride hard to be good. The second is the fear of being laughed at if they cannot do it. Once one gets the hang of these processes, it is less difficult to repeat them when necessary. Unlike learning to ride a bike, writing is something one has to do themselves, so they have to master their own fear, without assurance from anyone. When a person has just learned to ride a bike, for the first few days they find that it is sometimes hard to control it or hard to brake when necessary.
