suffer the children
"Suffer the Little Children" is a great science fiction story written by the legendary author Stephen King. The short story is filled with many descriptive statements that really catch the reader's imagination. "Suffer the Little Children" is about a third grade elementary school teacher who is very strict and short-tempered. This is one of those teachers that all of us hated throughout school, there are absolutely no breaks. Her instincts felt the wrath of something bad happening, but she did not know what it was. Little did she know that her mean teaching style would backfire against her all in a short period of time. Stephen King uses three great techniques to suck the reader into this short story; the phsyco teacher in Miss Sidley and her class, the descriptive statements, and the usual science fiction style that King is famous for. Miss Sidley is a great teacher when it comes to learning, but when she has to deal with the responsibilities of little kids she just does not fair well. When Miss Sidley has her back turned to the class she can see them making faces and throwing hand gestures at her through the reflection of her thick glasses. It almost looks like she has eyes in the back of
The children bug her enough to make her kill herself with the broken mirror. In "Suffer the Little Children" the fiction part of it is the unreal creatures or monsters that Miss Sidleys' third grade class is. Stephen King is one of the best science fiction writers in the world. Kings ability to create drama and excitement by reading the short stories is the reason why they are so exciting and so interesting. So one by one the students went down the hall into the testing room. It was stuck there like a tiny string of roast beef between two molars. This story would not be anything without the major description that gives it the entire picture. Stephen King is a great descriptive writer and always has been. In "Suffer the Little Children" some of the descriptive statements are just unreal. The facial transformation that the students go through is left really unexplained throughout the whole story. The day she came back she told her students that she was going to do a test on them and then they could go home for the rest of the day. To understand these stories he writes the reader must read carefully and understand every detail that goes on in the story. Soon after that Miss Sidley took a piece of broken mirror glass and sliced her throat. One day she was writing the daily spelling words on the board when she saw something unusual in the face of Robert one of her students. When Miss Sidley was talking to one of her students named Robert, King says, "his eyes are very dark brown, like the mud at the bottom of a slow-running stream.
