Euthanaia

             Almost every family has had to watch the slow and painful death of a loved one or family member from some sort of chronic illness. They have to make a careful but wise decisions for that person unless they are able to decide on their own whether or not they should be kept alive because of their illness. People begin to face these situations by asking themselves questions, and begin to think about both sides of the situation. Some questions that are asked are as follows; aren't doctors supposed to kill the pain, but not the patient? Or people begin to take the other side and ask; what if the person is in major pain and have no signs of getting better? People begin to debate and begin to discuss the pros and cons of the situation.
             There are many pros for euthanasia. If a person requests aid in dying, it should always remain a personal decision. People who want assisted suicide show cases of terminal illnesses and are in intractable pain and want to end their life. Suicide is a legal act that is theoretically available to all, but a person who is in a hospital or is disabled may not be able to exercise this act. They are being discriminated because of their disability thinking that they are not capable of making decisions. People believe it is unfair since everyone has the right to their life and should be able to make their own decisions. Death can represent a relief in pain to many people.
             There are also many cons towards this issue. First of all medical associations whose members are dedicated to saving and extending life, feel uncomfortable ending a persons life. Also groups concerned with disabilities, who fear that euthanasia is the first step towards a society that will kill disabled people against their will.
