Jesus
More than 2000 years ago there was a man known to be the greatest leader to ever live. His name was Jesus. Even to today people follow Him because of His great teachings. His teachings were His life, His faith, and his extravagant miracles He performed. This man lived in poverty and was reared in obscurity. The Birth of Jesus started in the days of Augustus Caesar, God sent an angel to Israel, to a virgin named Mary. The angel Gabriel tells the virgin Mary that she will have a son, Jesus, and that Jesus will be born of her and of the Holy Spirit of God. This event was foreshadowed 700 years earlier when the prophet Isaiah spoke of a virgin having a child who would be referred to as "Immanuel" which means "God with us." (Isaiah 7:14 NKJV) She was engaged to Joseph, a carpenter. The angel told Mary that by God's power, she would conceive and bear a son. When Joseph learned that she was pregnant, an angel instructed him to marry her. Joseph took her to Bethlehem to register for a census. While there, Mary gave birth to Jesus. She laid him in a manger because there was no room at the inn. Shepherds visited Jesus in Bethlehem. Later, wise men brought gifts to Jesus. They told Herod the Great, a wicked king, that Jesus wo
When Jesus had traveled to the district of Galilee, a royal official begged Jesus to heal his son who was very ill. So, a few of the religious leaders tried to trap Jesus into saying something that would anger the Romans. He said, "Young man, I say to you, get up!" The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus g!ave him back to his mother. He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Similar to the other prophets in the Bible, Jesus foretold events that happened later in the future. Jesus told Martha, Lazarus' sister, "I am the resurrection and the life. " Jesus had proclaimed that He was the anointed one or Messiah that the Bible verse spoke about. All of those prophecies have come true. After Jesus got off the boat a nobleman came to Jesus and said that his daughter had just died. Jesus scolded Peter for doing that: "Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. The nobleman had strong faith that Jesus could make his daughter well again. The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. It was getting late into the day, and Jesus' disciples were concerned that the crowd did not have any food. Mary, Jesus' mother, did not know that Jesus was at the Temple. He also said that He would rise again on the third day.
