music in ww2

Throughouthistory, songs and music have been especially popular in time of war andcrisis. One reason for this is because it can help people to be in high spiritsfor a short period of time, even though there is death and illness all aroundthem. During World War Two, the song "Lili Marlene" became a favorite for boththe American and German troops. Onereason the song was very popular with the troops was because it gave themsomething to do

As one might suspect, song and music was veryimportant during World War Two, along with other times of fighting. It also helped them to be in a bettermood, especially when sitting in an airplane and knowing that you could be shotdown at any moment. The troops would humand whistle it all over the desert and in the air. while they were waiting to fight or sitting in camp. The airmen would sometimes sing songs to each other throughtheir radio systems to keep them occupied and not thinking about the bad thingsof war while flying. It helped to lift their moods and was a short-term remedyto feeling sad or lonely. It was played over andover again on its own radio because they liked it so much. It in some measure gave thema place of refuge or sense of security in which they could sing their song withtheir war buddies and feel safe for a while. They could sing this song and use it to help them get overtheir tough times throughout the war. Another reason thesong was a favorite of the American troops was because it was an example of thehatreds of war. The songwas popular with many American troops over in Africa. It kept menoccupied while sitting around, and also it gave them a sense of belonging ifall their friends were singing the same song. ------------------------------------------------------------------------**Bibliography**.
