family values in the 17th century

As the twenty-first century is off to a start, many thing have changed. Since the seventeenth century morals and values are very different. Divorce, abortion, and single parent families at that time were unheard of. Growing up in a 'world' where homosexuality and cross dressing are seen in our daily routines, it's hard to understand where the idea of this structured society we live in came from. The values we hold to be important, the friends, and roles we take on in our families make up who we are. It seems that we are brought up in a world that has a set system we are supposed to abide by. The changing technology in our 'world' has set new limits to what we can do. Our founding fathers have fought for what we have today. The fact is, we take electricity, telephones and other modern services for granted. During the time of the new world in America our ancestors were fighting for other things, bringing religious beliefs and the idea of freedom to this country. The dictionary definition for family is: a group of persons of common ancestry, this is true in theory but in actuality 'we' don't over extend our family lineage. Family to the seventeenth century means more then

Even though Franklin had two younger sisters, is doesn't count because they are females. In a fast paced world with new things daily I believe we take our freedom for granted. Emerson speaks of being a husband, as part of a family, bu!t focuses mostly on being a better man. Most seventeenth century writers logged are, rich males who could afford to be schooled and learned to be literate. In Franklin's Address he speaks of his family line. Young men at this time were almost expected to take over the profession of their father. 232) when he is speaking about John and Benjamin two males in his family. Many customs that we base our daily lives on have transcended from the ideas of these times. This was especially a way for people to create a community of families that boned other people with the same beliefs together. Religion was a way of life during the seventeenth century. We are always gong to be expressing our beliefs about something, hopefully just as affluent as Franklin an Emerson.
