I was at a friend's house the other night with several friends and it was a somewhat unusual setting for me because there were a lot more girls than guys. Actually there were seven girls, I, and one other guy. Late in the night one of the girls stated that she wanted to leave to go stay the night with a guy that was a friend of everyone there. He is a good guy but she did not know if she should go since it was so late and asked for advice from her friends. All of a sudden the conversation turned from whether she should go and stay the night with him to whether she should go and have sex with him or not go at all. I had nothing to add to this discussion because I was shocked. I could not believe that these women were talking just like men. In fact, one of the girls there said, "Your thinking like a girl. Think like a man now go over there and give it to him!" Her reasoning was that it is wrong to just hook up with some random guy but if you!
             know the guy and he is a nice then it is all right. Well the girl in the dilemma did go to the guy's house and she did have sex with him that night. How did she make that choice? Well in this situation it was her friends that persuaded her to go have sex that night because not one girl in the room said for her to stay.
             Friends are not the only ones that influence adolescence sexual choices. I interviewed four males and six females that attend ECU and found that through high school family and friends are the biggest contributors to how adolescents make sexual choices. I asked them questions about how they made the choice to finally have sex and what influences their sexual choices now.
