mp3 v md

Portable audio player become more and more common in our life nowadays. CD-player, cassette player, radio, mp3 player and mini-disc player are some of the well-known portable audio player today. Among these portable audio player, MP3 and mini-disc (or simply MD) player are the most advance in today portable audio technology. MP3 is actually a music file of computer. The name of MP3 came from the extension name of this music file. MD player is like a CD player, except that disc for MD player is smaller and it can store the same amount of song as a CD. Both of this players have a lot of differences but there are both expensive in price. Therefore, it's seemed very unlikely a person will own both of these portable players. Hence, people are always making comparison between these two portable players in order to get the best out of one. Size, recording mode and usability are the most common comparison between MP3 and MD player. I owned 2 MD players and I had done some comparison w!ith my friend's MP3 player. After doing a little research on them, I did come out some conclusion on these two players. One of the things that are of paramount concern for an MP3 player is size. That is, how much RAM is on the unit in whic

------------------------------------------------------------------------**Bibliography**. In the MP3 world, it's usually safe to use the equation 1 minute = 1mb, and that is what I will be assuming throughout this essay. Almost all high-quality ones you buy now employ USB cables to transfer the max capacity of your player (let's say 64m) in only a minute or two. It's a cheaper alternative, because it just needs 40-sec worth of solid-state memory to accomplish the same thing as an MP3 player. Of course, you have to swap out discs, but it's easy to put all your favorite songs onto one or two MDs. I've never used a pack that required the reading of the directions to get MP3s onto the unit. Using that, we can determine that an MP3 player just above cheap would have 64mb memory, thereby holding about 64 minutes of song. After all, you couldn't think of using a CD player for that purpose--it would skip horribly. Previous to this, parallel port was the favorite choice, which was still fairly zippy, though it typically took 4-5 minutes to fill the same space. The initial allure of MP3 players besides being quick to load was that it is not possible for them to skip. Burning MDs is very simple, albeit a cumbersome process of waiting. Translation: a 5-minute song takes 5 minutes to get onto MD. With that said, it is now free to use 'skippable' media, which is much cheaper and more abundant. Of course, this can vary depending on bit rate, etc, but you'll get about an hour out of it.
