"The Lack of Woman's Human Rights in the Middle East"Violations against women in the Middle East have gone on for too long, they have been denied the attention and concern of international organizations, national governments, and the press. For whatever reasons the lack of human rights for women has just been accepted. Meanwhile, hundreds of millions of Muslim girls and women continue to endure devastating and often fatal human rights abuses. Yet, more and more people do not want to get involved because they either feel this is a family issue or the Middle East problem. The violation of woman's rights is nor an issue or a problem, it is a tragedy that we must see as all of ours. As a free rights country, we must help to educate the Middle East of their misdoing in order to conserve our own. Human rights violations against women must be documented, publicized and stopped. The country of Iran declared that men are legally permitted to kill their wives if they are unfaithful, which leads to woman being killed when their spouses are only suspicious (Goodwin 114). This statement holds true in all Islamic countries. Women are even murdered if they have been raped. As in the case of a disabled sixteen-year-old girl in Saudi Arab
The first step is to remove the boundaries between men and women, to realize that a woman's body belong to no one but herself. In Islamic culture, woman must wear strict hijab attire at all times or else pay the consequences. According to former president Rafsanjani, "it is the obligation of the female to cover her head because woman's hair exudes vibrations that arouse, mislead, and corrupt men" (Goodwin 107). She is a woman, a woman with rights; women with honor; a woman who should be free to say and do as she pleases. She is not property; she is not an object. If she refuses, the angels of heaven will turn against her. When their own religion-based government is telling them that their sole purpose is to serve the men around her, as she is but a servant. Men's sexual needs are considered so urgent that it is better for food to burn in the oven than a man to burn in waiting for his wife to satisfy his desire. With devastation maltreatment coming from all aspects of life, it is easy to see why woman conform to the way things are.
