gettysburg address

Lincoln's address at Gettysburg has proved to be one of the most important and influential pieces of literature in our nation's history. Lincoln delivered this on November 19, 1863. This document has become recognized around the world as the epitome of the English Language and a key document in American history. This document is a poetic speech about a war that was fought by our fathers and brothers against our fathers and brothers. One of our greatest Presidents gave this address at on of the important battlefields in the war. President Lincoln made a dedication of the Gettysburg Cemetery that commemorates a war that divided our country. Many presidents have had to deal with our country in times of war. However, only Lincoln had to deal with war between ourselves. This address seems to point out the foundation of our country and the struggle of our forefathers for liberty. Lincoln didn't want us to forget how the country had been founded and on what principles. "Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal". It seems it is important to

He used the speech at the cemetery dedication in Gettysburg unify the country and stop the war. "government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth. I believe he is saying to honor is to remember and prevent from happening again. Lincoln states "it can never forget what they did here". Never before has Americans raised their guns in war against fellow Americans! The war seemed to be like a fight between brothers and eventually, after a few black eyes and bloody noses, created a stronger family. This country went though its biggest test during a war with itself. He wanted Americans to remember the fallen by keeping the cause of uniting the states and making all men equal. A successful nation wouldn't need slaves; it would thrive on hard work and equality among men. The civil war was a trying time in our history.
