A Comparison of Real People And Fictional Characters
Although many readers don't realize the connection between real people and fictional characters, often writers use these real people as the epitome of their characters. For example, F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote, The Great Gatsby with a character based on Arnold Rothstein. Rothstien became known as one of the most notorious gangsters of his time. Not only admired among his peers, Rothstien also captures the admiration of outsiders who had no partaking in this gangster's lifestyle.
