I have always been involved with sports. Since I was a child, I have participated in organized sports including softball, basketball, tennis, and volleyball. There was something about playing; maybe it was the challenge the fact that sports allowed me to be active, but I just love to play. In the middle of my eighth grade year, I received information in the mail about the Keystone State games. The Keystone games are held annually in the state of Pennsylvania. Some of the best athletes come and compete in all types of sports. I became interested in trying out for the basketball team for the Pocono region of my state.
No more than ten girls showed up, so I automatically made it to the second tryout. A week later we traveled to the second tryout site. The tryout was over and the coaches decided on ten girls and two alternates. Congratulations!"My heart dropped, I did not make the team. Words cannot describe the excitement that flooded through my body after I hung up the phone. ------------------------------------------------------------------------**Bibliography**. The coach started listing the names. I went to the Keystone State Games and my team continued on to win second place. He was down to the ninth and beginning to name the tenth, the whole time I am pleading inside for it to be me. the one hour trip to the first tryout. I have taken this experience with me and have been able to reflect on it every time I am in a situation where I do not believe in myself. We practiced for three days straight and there were two days until the games were about to start. I had done it! Although I did not make it on the leading team, I had the chance to be a part of it. I was chosen as the first alternate for the team.
