prayer in school

One of the most controversial issues in the United States today is the issue of whether or not prayer should be allowed in public schools. In many schools around the country, prayer has already been banned in public schools. Many people have many different on this issue. The American society consists of a variety of different religions, and everyone in America has their freedom of religion guaranteed to them under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. I agree strongly with the First Amendment right too free religion, but the main concern about this paper is portrayed by my belief that prayer should not be allowed in public schools for different reasons. There are many reasons why I feel so strongly about this topic. One particular reason is that I feel that there are schools throughout the United States that educates students of a specific religion. For example, there are schools, just in the local area that I live in, that educate

For example, if one kid doesn't believe in a God at all and worships Satan in a class full of strong-willed Christians, not many or maybe none of his fellow classmates, will agree with his feelings of religion and that kid will probably be casted aside and ridiculed by them. I did not need to hold someone else's hand and make anyone else feel uncomfortable. " This is an example I found on abcNEWS. com that I thought would show how serious this debate is growing throughout the United States. In this paper I tried to show good reasons for my belief that prayer should not be allowed in public school. On June 19, 2000, the Supreme Court ruled that students could not pray over public address systems at high school football games. Although the First Amendment protects any kid to believe in whatever religion they choose, the fact be, if the majority of that school society doesn't agree with it, then that religion will not be accepted in the public school. I just feel that public schools are made for students that believe in whatever type of religion they want, and that they should not feel that any other religions should be focused on or centered on specifically. I feel that prayer could causes dangerous reactions in public schools. I also think that if each kid starts praying separately to a different godlike figure, there will be controversy developing between him and her. and focus on students of the Catholic religion. It's such a big issue in the United States today, and that's why I feel that our First Amendment right to religion is extremely vital in our lives, but prayer in public schooling just doesn't seem to fit the mold of our American society. Religion in public schools just seems to be too broad. My point that I'm trying to make is that no matter what school policies you have been told to follow, the First Amendment rules them all out. My last reason is based on the First Amendment, and the rights that are guaranteed by it.
