EPA

The EPA is an organization who's sole purpose is to preserve the environment we live in. EPA stands for Environmental Protection Agency and is responsible for many Environmental holidays we celebrate today. Throughout this report I hope to give the reader some insight on the projects that the EPA has conducted in the past and present. Before we begin to look at the projects the EPA has conducted lets first find out what the EPA is all about. The EPA was established as an independent agency on December 2, 1970. Before this however it was an organization that was just a vision. President Nixon's advisors thought that the environment was in serious trouble, and these issues needed to be dealt with. The project relies on the cooperation and commitment of numerous federal, state and local agencies as well as strong participation from citizens, nonprofit groups and private institutions. Reducing Risk, a landmark report from EPA's Science Advisory Board, calls for the setting of national environmental priorities and greater use of science in decision-making on environmental regulation. The technology will benefit local residents by making available immediate information about air emissions and helping the company make greater reductions in air pollution more quickly. They set standards for automotive emissions, and required states to submit new air quality plans. 1975EPA assumes responsibility for annually monitoring how cars and light trucks perform under new fuel economy standards--a move that, for the first time, allows consumers to choose cars based on their energy efficiency--under the new Energy Policy and Conservation Act. ------------------------------------------------------------------------**Bibliography**. After decades of conflict, the Clinton Administration negotiates a consensus plan to protect the most valuable economic and environmental resource of the state of California--water.
