To be truly memorable , a book must have at its core one of

What kind of book do you think is the most attractive ? According to the critical lensstatement ," to be truly memorable , a book must have at its core one of life 's great quests:the quest for love , truth , or power ." This means that what makes a story interesting , andhave a unforgettable plot is how the characters search for love , truth , or power . I agree with this statement . William Shakespeare 's play Julius Caesar and Sophocles 's play Oedipus the King both illustrate the truth of the statement . In the play Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare , the inquiry for truth and power is the things that gain our attention . Caesar 's superior position damaged Cassius 's freedom and prestige . So Cassius decided to persuade Brutus to join the conspiracy to throw overCaesar . Thus , his motive was envy , not patriotism . He was characterized as a selfish and petty man . However , Brutus who is well - respected by the Roman people worried

But he was rescued and taken to Corinth to be the son of Polybus . Sophocles 's play Oedipus the King also is unforgettable , because the truth , love and power is the core of the play . As he lost the Civil War , he took responsibility for his crime and punished himself . He expressed his guilt by his line "Pindarus , your master hasmade me wish that things we 've done could be undone . As he answered the riddle of the Sphinx , Oedipus became the king of Thebes . Actually , he was the murderer of the king and did not know the truth . So Oedipus was put on a mountain with his feet tied together . Both of the texts prove that statement . Oedipus is the unfortunate man in the play . It was ironic that he saved the country , but was the one that caused the plague . Because the plague is the punishment for his crime . In conclusion , the power , love and truth are the themes of the plays . He was characterized as a arrogant and impulsive man . After Brutus killed Caesar , he was regretful about the truth .
