Throughout the 20th century, the Catholic Church has been looked down upon. There are many reasons for it, but as far as Catholics are concerned they are not very logical reasons. Most of this predisposed hatred, to something that is as pure as a religion, is because the Catholic Church is based around very strict guidelines. Although these guidelines have toned down over the century some still condemn the church for these rules. Throughout this paper, you will discover the ties between Catholicism and Fascistism, the structure of the Catholic Church, and how currently the values of the Catholic Church are disregarded. The Catholic Church is an institution of character with great respect for traditional values; with a strong religious structure, it overcame the troubles of the 20th century. Before World War II, the Catholic Church shared a close bond with the Fascist Government. Catholicism was strong in European countries that had a Fascist Government in control. The Catholic Center Party even voted in favor of Hitler, showing they wanted him to rule Germany (ANT 39). This was because Hitler guaranteed "Catholics freedom to profess and practice their religion freely" and he helped Catholics get "finance and property
In particular the last forty years has been the toughest for the church. The articles that they found in this time framed made the church look both conservative and oppressive and at many times irrelevant. This has historically been supported by society until the 1980's when newspapers, like the New York Times started advertising a request for a change in church policy (ACM 13). Some people consider the churches that give women equal rights as a modern day church. The entire wealth of the city is !in the billions of dollars and is increasing every year (YC 229). The Catholic Church is like a chair, if you take away one leg it will still stand, but it will be missing a vital part of its structure. 5 million dollars in collections a year. The Catholic Church has very strict guidelines about many issues that deal with sex. The third obligation of the church is for parents to teach their children the catholic religion. The first is as long as one is healthy you must attend mass every Sunday and every Holy Day of obligation. During the mass a speaker reads a section from the Jewish testament and either an epistle from a saint, the Book of Acts or the Book of Revelation.
