             "Human Life is the basis of all good and is the necessary source and condition of every human activity and all of society. Most people regard life as something sacred and hold that no one may dispose of it at will, but believers see in life something greater, namely a gift of God's love which they are called upon to preserve and make fruitful."
             Some people might not know the term "Euthanasia," so I will define it for you. Euthanasia is an action or an omission, which of itself or by intention causes death so that all suffering may in this way be eliminated. One way to prevent this is the "ordinary means of preserving life." What is meant by that is all medicines, treatments, and operations that offer a responsible hope of benefit for the patient and can be obtained and used without excessive expense, pain, or other inconvenience. Also, another term which is the "extraordinary means of preserving life," is just the complete opposite of the ordinary means. What is meant by extraordinary means is that all medicines, treatments, and operations cannot be obtained or used without excessive expense, pain, or other inconvenience and offer no reasonable hope of benefit for the patient. With these two terms, the Catholic teaching of both is that we are only bound to the "ordinary mean!

             One topic that has arisen in the past years is "physician-assisted suicide." Now you're thinking to yourself, how does this relate to euthanasia. This refers to euthanasia by "active euthanasia." Active euthanasia is the immediate action step to bring about death directly.
