sociology

             I would like to start this paper with a thesis sentence. Sociology is an ever-changing field, which is soley concerned with the individual. Websters dictionary's definition reads "the study of the organizations, institutions, and development of human society (websters new riverside dictionary, pg. 655)." This definition also included the entirety of social relationships among human beings. I concluded that the two definitions together would mean that a group of individuals would be bound together or related to one another through shared institutions and cultures. This particular explanation of sociology would be related to different aspects of our lives, specifically, our business lives, church congregations and recreations. Simply put, sociology, as far as webster dictionary is concerened, is life away from home.
             "Since society is the product of human action, it never stands still. Even maintaining tradition and keeping things stable requires effort. Most social change is small. Changes in individuals' lives-like new jobs or new children-do not necessarily change the whole of society. But behind these individual changes are bigger ones: the whole job market changes, the population grows larger.(sociology,pg.xxi)" my reason for choosing this particular quote was to emphasize the fact that sociology is society or the public. The point this author was making was the fact that the more the public changes the more sociology changes, and sociology is ever-changing. This books definition of sociology is "the study of the ways in which human life is socially organized (Mcgraw-Hill, pg.5)."
