Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder Attention Deficit Disorder or ADD is a disorder that effects thousands of Americians everyday of their lives. This disorder hits home for me because my friend Mike that I attended grade school with was diagnosed with ADD in first grade. He was left back to repeat the grade and then the school began screening him for this disorder. In most cases of attention deficit disorder the individual will show signs of ADD in early childhood. ADD is identified by chronic behaviors usually lasting at least six months and not before seven years of age. There are four sub types have been established they are as follows.1. Early detection and treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder can prove to be successful and will allow the child to overcome this disorder. As Mike and I had continued on with are education he continued to struggle through out his entire academic career. ADHD causes a lot of problems with children and the learning process. Children that have ADHD most likely will suffer from school failure, emotional difficulties and significant problems in a learning environment. ADHD - Combined type is defined by an individual meeting both sets of attention and hyperactive/impulsive criteria. Despite the fact that he had problems his whole life with ADHD he overcame it and will be proud alumni of Cornell University for the rest of his days. Difficulty engaging in activities quietly3.
