Unlike most people I have a variety of magazines I like to read. I read everything from Sophisticated Black Hair to Time. I like to have a variety, and besides those long waits in the doctors office a magazine or two always come in handy to keep your mind occupied while the little kid sitting beside you is whining and complaining to his mom about why it takes so long.
             Sophisticated Black Hair is a magazine targeted toward women of color. The age range is basically anyone who is old enough to do their own hair. They have many articles on skin care, fashion, celebrities, and hair of course. It's amazing what a person can do with weave and a simple hair track or extension. On average the average woman of color spends over $80 on a perm $40 for a deep conditioning and $50 for a haircut. Depending on the area you are from it will either cost more or less. Many women of color have the same concerns over their hair. In Sophisticated Black Hair they have articles on how to prevent hair breakage, hair lose, the do's and don'ts of styling your hair and make-up tips. Many of the articles focus on preventing things like that. You have only one head of hair so you better take care of it while you still have it. Hair in the Black community is a big thing. Competition between beauticians can get ugly!!! Many black hair solons have Sophisticat!
             ed Black Hair magazines for their costumers to read. Lots of hairstyles you see now come from this magazine. There are articles on new ways to do your hair and how to style it without breaking your hair or using too much gel or hair spray. This magazine always comes in handy when you need a quick do for prom or a special occasion.
