His contract expired with Chloe in 1983, so he left the house and worked for Chanel. After receiving this great honor, he decided that he didn't want anything to do with ready-to-wear again. Karl is one of the most ingenious and artistic designers of all time. From this point on, he knew he wanted to be a great designer. He designed watches, jewelry, eyewear, and men's wear. To this day, Karl is still designing for the house of Chanel. KL was a Pret-a-Porte and a women's sportswear line. He was the artistic director of couture and Pret-a-Porte. Besides designing women's apparel he decided to branch out and design accessories. He was able to update the Chanel look, but he still kept the house the way Coco would have wanted it.
