sex ed
Even though sex education is being taught in many schools across America, this topic has been in hot debate for years. Opinions on whether it should be taught range from the idea that teaching it will decrease teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases to the belief that it should be banned nationwide. Those who agree that sex education should be taught in school also believe that this type of education needs to start as early as kindergarten to ensure sexually responsible adults. Those who don't agree with this type of education feel that children should not be subjected to this kind of 'talk'. They feel that if sex education must be in the school system, then abstinence should be taught instead of just the safe-sex program. Either way people look at it, sex education will most likely never leave the school systems anytime soon. People need to realize that teaching sex education does not reduce teen pregnancy or reduce the risk of sexually transmitted diseases. Instead, it warns them about the risks and consequences, the rest is up to them. Parents feel that if sex education in school is taught, then it will corrupt their children and make them want to go out and experim
A research commissioned by a group of 2,000 physicians showed that an "increased condom use by teens has not produced a reduction in the birthrate. Many parents feel that it is not the schools responsibility anyway. They're gonna do it anyway, why not try harder to perfect the sex education in schools so every student has a chance to make their own responsible decisions? Bibliography 1) Delattre, Edwin J. Sex education does not necessarily need to be banned from the schools in order to please those who feel it is doing no good. It makes kids more knowledgeable, more tolerant, and maybe even more skillful lovers. Many teens feel that they are invinsible to pregnancy and diseases anyway. So, by teaching that sex is bad and full of risks and deadly diseases, more than likely, the teens will want to go out and 'do it'. When you tell anybody they can't do something, they will have this overwhelming curiosity to go out and do what is forbidden. Teaching about it in school has not done its job. During a safe sex lecture teachers will tend to assume that most teens are already having sex, so rarely is it ever mentioned that abstinence is also a choice for preventing disease and pregnancy. The debate over sex education will never go away. Many seem to have the idea "that it can't happen to me". ------------------------------------------------------------------------**Bibliography**.
