savage labor
Kaya Johnson Boyd 1 "By a conservative estimate, there are 27 million people working under various forms of slavery in the world today, and the number is growing" (Anonymous pg.14). This is the size of a small country. There are many reasons why this slavery has come about. Racism is one of them. Ever since people have come across somebody of another skin color or background, there has been racism. Racism is instilled in our minds and comes out as hatred. Society shows this hate by treating different cultures and backgrounds than their own like lower class citizens or inferior. You can go as far to say that some people are treated as scum or "savages". Savages by definition are uncivilized and not domesticated. The fact that we are all human beings is forgotten and much of this hatred is passed on from generation to generation without even the root of this prejudice being known. Most of our thoughts about other people stem from our parents and immediate family. The ideas that our paren!ts have are transferred to us by actions as well as language. The media plays a huge role also. Since the time that television had been invented, t
They are the ones that have to work in the plantations to feed the Americans. Their long time hatred of other cultures stemmed with their bigotry with the Irish peoples. The Puritans did think that the Indians were primitive, but the English were intolerant towards others' long before they came to the New World. She has clothes made for the huge corporation Wal-Mart. Also just like the English did, dehumanizing a race makes its much easier to justify the fact of cheap labor. This is an example of how skin color doesn't always make a difference. In modern society, when a person travels to another country, they adapt to the ways to that country and people. We are not giving these items out to help the Brazilians. Society must accept that people all have different backgrounds or religions. It is much like when we kill animals for food. We think that they are stupid and would not know the difference. Most of their natural resources are exported to us, so they never even use much of them. The people that were really "other" were the English. The Indians did not know this violent life, and that gave them more power.
