Learning Everywhere
The saying, "Education is the key to success," is often used to encourage young students to attend primary and secondary education in order to succeed in the future. Ever since we were old enough to attend kindergarten, the importance of earning an education has always been emphasized. After high school, we are then told that we need to earn a degree at some university to achieve a great career and future life. The vast knowledge that teachers and professors teach us in mathematics, history, and so on is made out to be so significant to determining our futures. However, it has also been said, "Not all learning takes place in the classroom." The knowledge that we learn from our personal experience is quite different from the knowledge that we gain from classroom instruction. This source of knowledge acquired from experience serves as a greater advantage that enables survival in the real world than the trivial knowledge taught in schools. The knowledge we gain in the classrooms at school is mostly trivial knowledge. There are a variety of subjects that we learn in school that seems impossible to apply in the real world. For exa
" A lot of the knowledge taught within the classrooms is used in trivia whereas the knowledge gained from personal experience is used to survive in the cold, harsh world. All in all, being "book smart" does not get one very far in life. For example, one can learn to change his tire when he unfortunately gets a flat from personal experience, but reading about how to change a tire will not be the same. It is not all true that getting an education in school is the only way to achieve success in the future. " Being street smart allows surviving in the world when the history dates and mathematical equations will not. One can be "book smart" and due to lack of common sense, fail in the real world. Classroom instruction becomes trivial when students are told to memorize and learn things that will not be used again like a hair stylist learning differential calculus. mple, all the dates and events of history that many teachers expect us to memorize and know inside and out will never be used in our future lives unless we are a game contestant on Jeopardy or sparking up conversation over cocktail drinks. Then most of that is forever buried in our brains and never used again. The knowledge we obtain from our personal experience is more important than the knowledge we receive inside the classrooms. The knowledge we learn in school is mostly taught for students to learn and use to pass a test. Books do not hold the answers to everything. I am not at all discouraging education. They set out to find jobs and with the knowledge they gained along the way, they were able to pay the bills.
