Hamlet
In the story Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, Hamlet is looked at as being mad and crazy because of his vengeance on his uncle. However, Hamlet himself is putting on an act as if he was mad, which in fact he has total control of himself. In this play Hamlet struggles to find who he can trust and not trust. Three characters in the play that had an impact on Hamlet are: Claudius, Gertrude, and Horatio. These people reflected on Hamlet either positively or negatively. For Hamlet, the only thing he wanted was revenge and justice for his fathers death. If this meant losing friendship and lovers then he accepted it. By the end of the play Hamlet serves justice to the state of Denmark by defeating his enemies and reclaiming pride once again. In the beginning of the play the relationship between Hamlet and his uncle/stepfather Claudius is a bit hostile. Claudius kept trying to have a father/son relationship and restore order in Denmark. He even wanted Hamlet to stay in Denmark and be with his family. Even though Hamlet wanted to leave he obeyed his mother's request. Hamlet was very upset over his fathers death and could not all of a sudden forget about him, which he feels everyone else has. He was also very upset at his
There relationship is special and significant to the outcome of the play. In this scene Gertrude is in denial of what Hamlet is telling her. Hamlet succeeds his task and dies feeling secure of his actions. In this play each of these three characters were of significant value in Hamlet's final actions. He explains that it is not love for Claudius that she wants, because at that age love she be at a more subtle mood. mother for moving so quickly into another marriage. It is also an important scene for Hamlet and Horatio. He was going to kill him when Claudius was confessing his sins, but then realizes if he does that then Claudius might end up in heaven with hi!s father. This not only affected their relationship with one another, but also with Hamlet and his two long time friends, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. This shows that Claudius is cold hearted and very responsible for Hamlet's actions. An important moment between Hamlet and Gertrude is the bedroom scene. After Hamlet finally finds out the real story behind his fathers death, his relationship with his uncle was over. Whether it was a plot against him, which Claudius uses, or a neutral act, which Gertrude uses, or a plot to help revenge his father's murder, which Horatio supports Hamlet in doing, the final outcome all depends on Hamlet's decision in serving justice to the state of Denmark. After the killing of Polonius, the vision of his father, and his outrageous conduct against her, Gertrude tells Claudius that Hamlet is crazy. Hamlet understood she was not in the plot against his father, but had no excuse in marrying so soon after her husbands death.
