             While there may not be cures for certain human diseases, there is definitely a drug that can be used to ease the pain of many of them, such as arthritis, asthma, Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrom (AIDS), depression, glaucoma, multiple sclerosis, cancer and many others. This drug is marijuana, also known as cannabis. Marijuana is the dried leaf of the hemp plant that gives off tetrahydocannibinol (THC). THis chemical is part of the healing combination that is acquired through smoking. Marijuana can be smoked to experience a "high" that can make the user feel he or she is the happiest person in the world. It causes laughter, increased senses, relaxation, hunger (often known as "the munchies"), relieves nausea and pain. Therapeutic marijuana should be legalized because it minimizes patients' suffering in major and minor diseases.
             Marijuana can play a key role in eliminating nausea in chemotherapy patients and assist in the process of a patient gaining weight. Marijuana is a very powerful drug in "combating nausea and vomiting, making it possible for the person to consume food and to hold it down" (Potter and Joy 147). Marijuana also is considered and used as a stimulant for a person's appetite. This drug is known to make you grab for the nearest snack after smoking. "Its appetite stimulating qualities are being noticed in the treatment of anorexia and bulimia" (Zimmerman 14). Thirdly, it creates an enhanced enjoyment and wanting for foods. In this case, marijuana "expands the enjoyment of the sight, aroma, taste and texture of food . . . transforming a simple meal into an adventure of sensation," (Potter and Joy 147).
