             The story continues with Charlie and Algernon escape from the science convention in Chicago. They went back to New York, cashed out Charlie's saving from the bank and rented an apartment near time square. The next day, Charlie saw his name on the newspaper, and on the newspaper it also mention about his sister and mother living in Brooklyn, his dad living in Bronx. Charlie planned to visit his mother and sister but his past memory stop him from doing so. Charlie met his new female neighbor Fay when he accidentally locked himself out the apartment and had to borrow Fay's fire escape to jump in to his windows. Fay was a painter who loves to dance, paint, and sex. Fay flirted with Charlie trying to get Charlie drunk, so she can have sex with her, but Charlie was too close minded to do so because of he is still in love with Alice. Charlie plan to use his knowledge to write some formula to help the retarded people to become smart. He asked for approval from Beekman University and he was granted approval. Charlie decided to visit his Father, Matt, at the barber shop that Matt had opened in Bronx. Charlie went inside the shop but Matt do not recognized Charlie and treated him as a customer. Charlie was depressed that Matt do not recognized him and went on his way. Charlie went back to seek Alice for comfort, and try to have sex with her, but he was unable to do so, because his past memory of the younger Charlie had haunted him. Charlie ran out from Alice's place and went back to seek Fay for sex knowing that young Charlie will not haunt him from doing so. Algernon was acting aggressive and bite Fay when Fay tried to feed him. Charlie sense changes in Algernon and decided to take him back to the lap for evaluation.
