In today's society the discussion on abortion is a big issue. Should it be legal or illegal? One of the reasons a lot of people will probably vote for President Bush is because he is anti-abortion, as well as millions of others in the country. However, a lot of people will also probably vote for John Kerry because he is pro abortion, as well as millions of others in America that believe that women should have the right to choose. It is completely understandable why anyone would believe that it is horrible to kill an unborn child, but they are not looking at all of the facts. Not everyone who is anti-abortion thinks of the fact that people who have HIV/ AIDS, or other deadly diseases could pass these onto their baby? No, they probably don't. There are many cases where women have had surgery and many strong prescription drugs in their early pregnancy, not knowing they were pregnant. This can harm the baby, and when or if this happens the women are told that there is a chance that their babies could be deformed or have health/ mental complications. Can you imagine carrying a baby for nine months knowing there is a 30-50 % chance that it will not turn out all right and has to struggle for its life once born? In other cases, there a
There are also the issues of rape and incest. re heroin or cocaine addicts that become pregnant. Or they just attempted it themselves and bled to death. It is hard enough to get yourself to do it, and these people just make it all so much worse. An abortion is a one time thing and some women have had five or more. A good alternative would be to have the baby and then give the child up for adoption. victims of rape and incest should be forced to bear the child. Someplace where they will have the medical attention they need. Not saying that it is any better to lose a women's life, than to kill a baby's, women should still have the choice to have a legal abortion in a clinic. Many went to butchers to have them aborted. Therefore, abortion being the best thing, instead of giving birth to something that might not live that long or that has to struggle to live. If a woman has an abortion for these reasons she would be extremely foolish, irresponsible, and have questionable morals. Also, it would be a good idea for the clinics to have counseling for the women. It is wrong to terminate at this point, and should be illegal. Some heroin or cocaine addicts don't even know they are pregnant until it is too late, and they know that their baby has been hurt.
