year round athletes

Empty-headed blondes with short skirts who yell and jump. Is that really all acheerleader does? Cheerleading is not as easy as most people would like to think. It is ahighly competitive sport which has highly dedicated athletes. Undoubtedly fans don'tknow of the sweat and blood that goes into making the routines, throwing up stunts, andtumbling across the floor. There are three key points to being a good cheerleader andthey are, rigorous training, squad bonding, and school spirit . In order to carry your weight on the squad, you must be trained in the basics. Asan athlete flexibility is important because without flexibility you would not be able to dothe splits, jumps, and kicks. Another essential skill is tumbling. Every squad after Jr.High School requires at least a round-off, if not a back handspring, not knowing eitherof these skills you will slow the whole squad down. Last but not least, a cheerleaderneeds to be able to perform the basic jumps, such as toe touches, right herkies, and leftherkies. These skills are just the basics that everyone needs to know. A section from aroutine preformed to Ricky Martin's "She Bangs" has the following sequence of moves:

As athletes the girls need to respect and trust who they are workingwith and be ready to accept responsibility for their actions as well as others. Manyschools hold lunch time activities where they hold relay races and the different teamsperform outrageous activities to ensure unity within the school and to get the support oftheir fellow classmates. The cheerleaders arealso obligated to host different school activities and make them exciting and interesting. They may throw a partyfor squad members only, or hold overnights--anything to form a special bond betweenthe girls on the squad. It continueswith the cheerleaders filing into their designated positions There is then a ripple effect oftoe touches there is then a dance combination that involves a kick, full turn sequenceending in the splits. Now you see that cheerleaders are diligent workers who work together asathletes, and promote school unity. Along with the activities the sports teams hold pep rallies inwhich they promote the attendance at the games. They are an asset to the schools and show that if agroup of people work together the outcome will be worth all of the hard work. So, beforeyou go making judgements about these well trained athletes, you should look at it fromtheir point of view and see how much hard work they put into everything that they do. , was Super Hero Day several girlson their junior varsity squad took the theme and added their own touch! One girl usedthe tooth fairy, now she is not your average super hero but the girl on the squad shouldnot be afraid to go the extra mile to get more people involved. During homecoming week the student council organizesspecial days where students dress up in clothes to match a theme. Besides creating a bond between the team, cheerleaders are also responsible forcreating a bond within the school. This builds the team because they will learn to trust each other. The bases for a stunt hold the life of the flyer in their hands, literally. That is just one to one-and-a-half minutes of a six minute routine.
