Princess Diana

             Almost four years ago more than two billion people worldwide watched the funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales. “Her death was followed by one of the most extraordinary outpourings of grief that the modern world has ever seen” (Elliott 7). Within days, Europe suffers a shortage of cut flowers as tens of thousands of bouquets are laid before the house of Kensington Palace. So what made the whole world cried for days? She was beautiful, of course; she was young, and she was loyal. She was both a pop icon and mother of future King and Prince of Wales. We know her as the Princess of Wales, but mainly “we felt close to her because she represented in herself so many of the worries our own children are likely to foist upon us […]” (Morris 50)
             Diana, Princess of Wales, formerly Lady Diana Frances Spencer, was born on first of July 1961 at Park House near Sandringham, Norfolk. She was the youngest daughter to the Viscount and Viscountess Althorp. Diana had two older sisters, Sarah and Jane and one younger brother, Charles. The eighth Earl Spencer, Diana’s father, was an equerry to George VI from 1950 to 1952, and to The Queen from 1952 to 1954. At the age six Diana's parents, who had married in 1954, separated. This may have what led to Diana’s eating disorders of anorexia nervosa and bulimia. Diana’s father remarried in 1975 to Raine, the Countess of Dartmouth. The children instantly disliked her. She was a loud character and the children felt she didn’t have the best intentions for her father. Diana was educated first at a preparatory school, Riddlesworth Hall at Diss, Norfolk, and then in 1974 went as a boarder to West Heath, near Sevenoaks, Kent. She showed a particular talent for mus!
