             Though Edgar Allan Poe's life he faced many heart breaking ordeals. Due to this, Poe became physically and mentally ill. Many people think that Poe's writing was a way of expressing his anger over his illness.
            
             Poe lost his mother and father when he was only three years old. In the year 1836 Poe married his cousin Virginia Clemm who was 14. After only a short couple of years, Virginia died. That was considered the time when Poe started to write his unforgettable story "The Raven." It was said that Poe's marriage to Virginia was an attempt to find the stable family he lacked. Losing his parents and his wife made Edgar more insane. (Welsh 163)
            
             Students of Poe's works who have learned to recognize his method of thought, know how frequently he disclosed his mental history (Ingram 225)
            
             In the Poems Annabell Lee and Lenore, Poe expressed the love for a dead woman. It was said after the story was written that the woman was his young wife Virginia.
