hamlet
In the year fifteen ninety-nine, a man named William Shakespeare wrote a play called Hamlet. But this was not just any play. This was a play, which because of it's uniqueness and it's ability to hold relevancy even in today's modern world, is still considered to be one of the classic tragedies of all time. When Shakespeare wrote this play, he had really constructed himself a masterpiece, a piece of work which has been able to stand the test of time, and which can be viewed as one of the greatest tragedies ever written. In this paper I will try to uncover the real hamlet. There are many things that people don't know about Hamlet and by researching every thing from the author, historical background of the play, soliquies, and an analysis of the tragedy, I will try to give you a better understanding of this story. William Shakespeare was born in Stratford, California on April 23, 1564.William came from a big family which he had eight brothers and sisters. There were no records about any of Williams schooling, but obviously you can tell that he had some kind of education by the quality of his work later in his life. An example of how Claudius uses Laertes to try and murder Hamlet is seen in Act IV, scene VII. Ophelia's death is tragic because of her complete innocence in the situation. Hamlet then gets angry at the fact that he cannot commit suicide because it is against the law. He proved that words can say it all, and because of this he realized his true feelings on the subject of his mother and uncle. It can easily seen how Laertes was influenced by Claudius in the heat of his anger, could feel it was his job to murder Hamlet, and it is in this attempt that Laertes loses his own life to the same poison he kills Hamlet with. In Act III, scene IV, Hamlet kills Polonius while he is hiding behind the arras in the Queen's room. " Hamlet emphasizes his father'!s love to his mother by saying how his father cared so much that he was the type of person that wouldn't even allow the wind to touch her face too roughly. Lines' 152-155 "With which she followed my poor father's body, like Niobe, all tears why she, O God, a beast that wants discourse of reason would have !mourned longer (Cantor)! Hamlet still filled with anger at his mother's actions makes insulting remarks to his uncle, now the king's character. In 1611 six years before Williams death, he wrote his will giving everything he owned to his daughters Susanna and Judith, and also to his wife Anne. It is not hard to see why Hamlet is considered to be one of the greatest tragedies ever written. Line 150 "Let me not think on 't; frailty, thy name is woman (Cantor)!" He now believes that all women are weak, and that they cannot live without a man by their side every waking moment. In fact, the death of a character in Hamlet almost becomes a common thing near the end of the play.
