LETTER CARVER
Diana Hoare began her career as a calligrapher, and is she the author of 'Advanced Calligraphy Techniques'. Ten years ago she turned her attention to carving letters in stone and slate.Work undertaken and media used Diana's work comprises a wide variety of commissions, from very large business signs and architectural lettering to commemorative plaques and carved foundation stones. Her major preoccupation is how to introduce the written word into our living and working environment in a creative and inspiring context, using letters as abstract shape as well as a means of communicating ideas.Her calligraphic skill is most suited for commemorative plaques and entrance signs

Although it is still rare for a lady to become a monumental mason, Diana sees her work as a progression from her successful career as a 'calligrapher on paper' to a 'calligrapher in stone'. Within the regulations Diana uses her artistic creativity to offer an extensive range of styles, shape and stone whilst ensuring that her hallmark of grace and simplicity is always maintained.
