Back in the Middle Ages, King Arthur and his people had a different way of life and civilization, then what people have now. Everything from the people's housing, food, value of their money, and festivals are different than how they are now. In the Middle Ages the people did not have the resources and technology that people today have. They had very strict laws and codes that people had to follow. God and their religion were their first priorities. The construction and architecture of the houses and building were very complex and hard to build. Courtly love is the code of behavior that defined the relationship between lovers during the Middle Ages. There are some very important characters that lived during the Middle Ages also. The Middle Ages is an era that is very different than now in many ways. One of the most important figures out of the Middle Ages is King Arthur. He is said to be the son of Uthur Pendragon and Ygraine of Cornwall. He was the king of the Britons who fought against the Anglo- Saxons. The evil child was supposed to provide a counterweight to the good influence of Jesus Christ on earth. Her name is spelled differently depending on which legend she is in. Prowess, justice, loyalty, defense, courage, faith, humility, largesse, nobility, and franchise are all parts of the code of chivalry. A knight is sworn by oath to defend his lord and those who depend upon the lord. People really had to work for the things that they had. The value of silver was very low but it is not as low as it is now. Faith is what supports a knight and gives a knight hope. Early English money was divided into pounds, shillings, and pence. Courage is to search for the truth whenever possible, taking sacrifices, being wise, and dealing with whatever challenges come along with being a knight. The code of chivalry is based on many things. Prowess is seeking strength to be used in the service of justice, rather than in personal interest. Courtly love was basically the only romance in the lives of many people during the Middle Ages.
