. If you lost your teeth in battle or hunting, then you were in deep trouble because man was the hunted by all sorts of animals. Teeth in humans did not and still don’t grow back like some mammals, such as sharks and beavers. Years ago, teeth were not only used for breakdown of food but sometimes for self defense towards other humans.

Teeth in animals also was important years ago. Beavers have chisel-like front teeth that they use to cut down large trees for building dams. Men thousands of years ago would look for women with good strong teeth to mate with so that when their children were born they would develop the same jaw and teeth structure of their parents. Animals too, would search for such features as teeth in their mating process. This meant that the animal would have to have good strong sharp teeth to fight off tools used by man and would have to use their teeth to defeat other animals in search of food.

So that takes us to the next question, Why have our teeth been so important to us as human beings? Thousands of years ago when man was first created, teeth were more important than they are today.

Teeth give us the ability to speak. This would give the parents hope for their children to survive after they passed on. An animal such as a tiger would search for a strong well-grown tiger with large strong teeth.

Teeth will remain to be a big part of life in humans and animals as time moves on because survival is vital regardless of what era we are in.
