Vietnam War

The Tragedy of The Vietnam Veterans

There were four countries that were divided after World War II as a result of global

Communist strategy: China, Germany, Korea, and Vietnam. Vietnam was split into

two sections. North Vietnam was the Communist section and South Vietnam was the

Republican section. The French ruled most of the Vietnam for over a Century. After

World War II there was a seven and a half year battle between North Vietnam and South

Vietnam. The North Vietnamese were trying to turn the South Vietnamese into a

communist nation. During the war the Vietnam Veterans risked their life’s to contain

Communism, but when they arrived home the American citizens treated them

like garbage because the citizens only believed what they heard from the news.

The United States entered the Vietnam War because they wanted to contain

Communism in the world. Ho Chi Minh’s Communist party led revolts against the

French (Beck 868). The French where also trying to contain Communism and were

fighting the Vietnamese to gain control of North Vietnam. The French lost to the North

Vietnamese at Dien Bien Phu (868). After France’s Defeat they held a Peace Conference

. . .
The South Vietnamese had rebels in there half of the

country, and they were called the Viet Cong. But with the rich people they were just segregated from

all of the rest of the lower class people. The American people believed that the

soldiers were killing

Babies, although they weren’t. Then the government told all of the American

citizens what really happened. You didn’t have to go if you were in college because America needed

educated people for the future. After World War II there was a

seven and a half year battle between North Vietnam and South Vietnam. “On January 27, 1973, a cease-fire was signed in Paris, France by the United States, South Vietnam, North Vietnam, and the

Provisional Revolutionary Government of the NLF (“Vietnam War” 3). Then everyone started to believe the soldiers instead of the

press. And if you were in college or son/daughter of a rich family you

didn’t have to go. Vietnamization is when Nixon decided to withdraw

his troops out of Vietnam and bring them home. And the American people also believed that they were killing innocent people. The North Vietnamese were attaching bombs to the kids

and having them go to the American and South Vietnamese soldiers and detonate the

bomb.

Although they were just killing the Viet Cong and North Vietnam. and the South Vietnamese thought that we had won the war.
