Exploration of Pyramids

             Ever since the dawn of man, countless explorations have been conducted. This includes explorations of new lands, customs, and cultures. Explorations of pyramids also took place. Many archaeologists have become famous for locating and examining pyramids. Many of the explorations took place in the early 1900's (Bahn 240). Many pyramids were built "from about 2700 to 2500 BC" (CNN 1).
             Pyramids are located in many different places including Egypt, Sudan, Mexico, and also Central America (Berman & Sanchez 557). Archaeologists travel all over the world in search for pyramids. The majority of pyramids are located in Egypt. The pyramids located in Egypt "are the oldest and only surviving member of the ancient wonders" (CNN 1).
             Scientists and archaeologists explore pyramids for many reasons. Some explore pyramids for the fun and adventure, and others explore pyramids to become rich and famous. Most scientists and archaeologists were very unsure of what they would find. Most of the time they did not know what to expect. This could either be very dangerous, or very rewarding. It could even be both.
             Many people believe there are two main reasons why scientists and archaeologists explore pyramids. The first reason was to find and uncover the secrets of the pyramids. Many believed that the tombs of the late pharaohs held many great secrets of their lives.
             Another reason scientists and archaeologists explore pyramids were because they were hoping to find some sort of treasure. Most of the time, the late pharaohs were buried with their most prized possessions. Contrary to popular belief, gold was not the only sort of metal buried with the late pharaohs. They were also buried with silver (James 129). Some of the other treasures they were buried with were their chariots, furniture, and food.
