Mini-Critical Analysis

             The Art of the Contact Zone is an essay in which the author is talking about how other people, in certain ways see the world, and where their social spaces and cultures meet and clash, as the author describes it. It is an essay that goes to the extent to talking about the oppressor and the oppressed, in certain words. I got to this conclusion because the author says: "often in contexts of highly asymmetrical relations of power, such as colonialism, slavery."
             It is an essay that, like the Banking Concept of Education, focuses and talks about the oppressed and the oppressor and their asymmetrical power of the oppressor and the oppressed like the slavery the author talks about. I believe this is the main idea of how the author tries to convey the contact zone point of the one who knows and has power versus the one who knows but does not have power, but that ultimately this world and our surrounding belong to us all, not just the oppressor.
             This is why the author goes on to explain an tell the story of "Guaman Poma's letter to the king." This previous point is one of the focal points the author tries to convey in this essay, because it focuses on a letter from Guaman Poma, which is a letter to the King from Guama Poma. Guaman Poma's letter is an ethnographic work. But the meaning of Arts of the Contact Zone does not end there. It also talks about transculturation, and I believe the author sums it up where she says that "ethnographers have used the term transculturation to describe processes whereby members of subordinated or marginal groups select and invent from materials transmitted by a dominant of metropolitan culture Transculturation like autoethnography, is a phenomenon of the contact zone." This previous claim is what the Arts of the Contact Zone develops on, at least in part, if not most of its meaning.
             The essay clearly conveys that the oppressed are limited in their way...
