True homework
A student gets up in the morning, gets dressed and goes to school. He or she interacts with other people, while at school. The person studies hard to make good grades so he or she can one day get a good job. He or she has learned everything there is to know in school, right? Wrong. As students go through their daily routine of classes, I wonder if any one of them has ever taken a moment to consider where most of the knowledge they have gained really came from. Yes, a great deal of a person's knowledge is acquired from schooling, but, a lot of it is obtained from out of class experiences.
Some learn by playing sports and others learn by facing their challenges. School is a very controlled environment. As these examples show, there are some skills and knowledge that is worthy to be included in textbooks. For example, I had a friend in elementary school that I had no classes with; I would have never gotten to know him if I hadn't talked to him out of the classroom. I'm not saying that things like getting along with others, self confidence, and love should be thought in school. I don't want to sound all mushy but the statement is true. that we must get along with other people to thrive in today's world. A student is limited to a short amount of time to talk and play with the other students. I learned from watching other people like my parents. Who knows, fifty years from now schools may have Love 1101. One thing that isn't thought in school is love. Since then I have made many other friends that would not have been possible while in school. In all though, none are learned inside the classroom. The only place to really interact with other peers is out of class.
