The Call of the Wild
For my book report, I read The Call of the Wild. It is written by Jack London. The main Character is Buck. Buck is a muscular one hundred forty pound dog. The setting is a big house in the Santa Clara Valley. They called it Judge Millers Place. Bucksfather, a St. Bernard, was called Elmo. Elmo was the judges companion. Buck's goal One day, Buck was taken from his home in civilization and beaten and teased bymany men. They were trying to teach him a lesson for something he had done. He wasthen brought out in the wild with another dog named Curly. There was a beastly dognamed Dave there also. Dave was very passive. He did not do anything and he would getmad and annoying when Buck and Curly got excited. Buck was not used to anything on the Dyea beach. There was snow which is verynew to him. He had never seen dogs fight as aggressive as they do on the Dyea beach. Buck's first fighting experience was when Curly was a victim. T
hey were livingnear a log store when Curly, in a friendly manner, made an advance to a very large dog. They said there never was as good a dog as Buck. He was declared to be worth aboutone thousand Dollars now. He followed him inthe day and slept at his feet every night. Buck was shocked at this unfamiliar way of fighting. Now why would Buck do this? Well, it is instinct to get to somethingbefore it gets to you. They are described as "dead tired". One day some people called the Yeehats were dancing around the lodge. The man who taught Buckwas well pleased. Awhile later Buck made a new acquaintance. He could fight just as the beast that killed Curly was able to. Hiscompanion, Curly, was lying lifeless on the ground when the men with clubs came.
