judaism and christianity
There is a close, but often misleading relationship between Judaism and Christianity. The discrepancies are great, however, there are many similarities, many because Christianity emerged from Judaism. It is wrong to assume that Christianity as a whole is seen as the natural progression of Judaism. The most distinct contribution of Judaism to Christianity was the religious thought of monotheism, the idea that there is only one God. “I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me” (Exodus 20:2,3). As Judaism understood this, God could not be made up of multiple united parts. The Christian notion of trinitarianism is that God is made up of the father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Although called monotheistic because, by divine force, the three parts are one God, this view is incompatib
Judaism’s view of the messiah is a human being who will usher in an era of peace. Jesus was seen as a Jew who challenged the authorities of his day for the sake of their practices. The Jewish view is that humans are not born naturally good or bad. He meant to approve Judaism the best way he understood, not overshadow it. Jews see dividing God as an attempt to compromise with pagan !concept of man, not the Son of God. For in Judaism there is but one God. Eventually they would reach the final joyous most joyous point, the Heaven, would be closest to God. Humans are not helpless in the face of moral error. ” Original sin is removed by the sacrificial death of Jesus. Judaism believes there is one ultimate, undivided God. Rather, God uses the afterlife as a way for the wrong to right themselves with some sort of final redemption. le with the Jewish view that a division is not possible. They have the free will to choose the good and this free will is more powerful then the evil inclination. Judaism and Christianity both teach that humans decide for themselves how to act. “All life will eventually lead to death, giving that life much needed meaning.
