Maybe Jean is correct, and maybe that is why America's youth are spending more and more of their free time in front of the TV, playing video games. With parents starting to spend less time with their children in this "go-go" world, kids are forced to find other ways to spend their time. Now that video games are becoming cheaper and more visually stunning, kids are spending more time playing games like Tekken and Zelda then going out with their friends. However, do parents really know what are in those games? Do they know that some games teach problem solving skills, while others have shown to increase aggressive tendencies in children? Are the informed on the hottest selling games and how many of those have a "mature" rating? Do they even know how much and what games their kids are playing? Also, who is out there regulating the games?
             Research indicates that many articles on violence video games tend to overlook the subtle, educational qualities of video games. "In fact, I've always suspected that at some level, playing video and computer games can make you smarter. A lot of these games, after all, are as complex as they are treacherous. You have to learn how to solve problems fast, testing hypotheses and decoding puzzles. Patricia Greenfield, a psychology professor at UCLA, has studied the relationship between video games and intelligence and finds a positive correlation," says Joshua Quittner.
